SolarEdge is one of largest inverter manufacturers worldwide and based in the US with state-of-the-art technology developed in Israel. Established in 2006, SolarEdge developed the DC optimized inverter solution that changed the way power is harvested and managed in photovoltaic (PV) systems.
The SolarEdge intelligent inverter solution maximizes power generation while lowering the cost of energy produced by the solar system. In a SolarEdge installation, each PV panel is connected to an intelligent electronic chip called a power optimiser.
Power optimisers maximise solar energy production from each panel separately and therefore reduce power losses. If an individual panel underperforms, it won’t affect the performance of any of the other panels in the string. Solar installations with standard string inverters are very similar to those Christmas lights. String inverters treat all the solar panels as one big system. If you notice you’re not producing as much electricity as you should and the problem is a malfunctioning solar panel, you’ll have to check each panel individually.
